To fix one of the MOST COMMON severe leaks on these older transmissions. This kit will include the parts and detailed PDF instructions you will need to repair a front transmission case leak in transmissions installed in the models listed below. From my experience, one of the biggest leak problems comes from the large o-ring that seals the high-pressure pump inside the transmission. This o-ring hardens with age and will leak profusely. You might think the leak is just coming from the front torque converter lip seal, but don’t be fooled. If you just replace that small round seal and think you have solved your leak problem, you may end up having to remove the transmission again! Any time you are repairing a front transmission seal leak, ALWAYS replace the pump o-ring as well as the torque converter lip seal. No instructions are included for the rear output shaft seal. That seal can be replaced with the transmission in the car, but will require a special nut removal tool.

On these older automatics, the transmission case must be separated to replace the front pump seal.
In many cases I have found the o-ring so dried up and brittle that it just falls apart while attempting to remove it from the pump housing.

This is one of the most common leaks we have seen on these transmissions over the past 25 years. If you are discovering big puddels of red transmission fluid on the ground at the front of the transmission I can almost guarantee it is the front pump leaking.
