intercooler, twin tubo for 300 SD

Anyone out there added an intercooler to their turbo diesel? How about a 2nd turbo? Any quantified results with exhaust changes? Thank you in advance.

The injection pump is

The injection pump is limited to 140 hp.So no matter how you boost no real help.You must import a Euro injection pump with larger parts.Then you can proceed to make 500 hp.However the engine will only last a fraction of its lifespan.
However my changes,throw away ALDA,Monark nozzles,14psi electric fuel pump,straight exhaust,cold air intake,Delete fan and fan clutch install electric fan have helped.0 to 60 mph 10s seconds 1983 300sd.

Please quantify upgrades $/HP

Very good point about injection pump. I am frugal, can you tell me your experience with the Monarch nozzles, and the exhaust change, in terms of bang for the buck? Just bought this 1982 300SD, and love it, if only it were a little quicker.

Do some basics first

I recommend before you start spending time on upgrades and modifications you need to do the basic ABC of 617 turbo diesel tuning. A healthy, well tuned stock engine can "get up and go." This starts will an inspection of the camshaft, a valve adjustment, then a compression test. If you have weak compression the engine is tired, so don't expect to make your diesel into a hot rod. If that checks out then you move on to checking internal engine timing, injection pump timing, turbo operation, adjusting the fuel mixture,and checking for exhaust restriction. The procedures for doing all these things are covered in my manual " Diesel Performance Tuning and Repair."

Once that is all dialed in, then install Monark injector nozzles and balance tune your injectors. Installing an electric fuel boost pump is icing on the cake as it increases fuel pressure to the injection pump and as these injection systems age and wear they need the extra help to push the fuel from the tank to the engine compartment.

A couple final comments: Don't throw money and parts at a problem before you properly diagnose it, and don't believe everything you read on the forums and discussion groups.
