Got a 240D '83. Great shape overall - but all (replace-over-repair) mechanics say I need all new suspension parts. I have replaced shocks with new bilsteins. Overall she rides fine thru bumps and dips, better than newer cars of non-German manufacture.
Problem: Deep dips yield a creeky-klunk that sounds like it is coming directly from the passenger foot area - just where the track rod mount is anchored on the opposite side. Get this: barely noticable in the summer, it sounds really bad in the colder (non-freezing) weather...does this indicate anything clearly wrong?
Sir:
I have a 1988 300CE with 108k miles. Recently, while driving at highway speeds, 60+ mph, the engine seems to lose power and the red "check engine" light blinks on for a few seconds. It feels like I am losing power in one or two cylinders for 5 to 10 seconds. Then, the power resumes, the engine light goes out and everything is OK. This problem will only occur about once in 20 or 30 minutes of highway driving.
I took it to my local mechanic, he drove the car and, of course, this problem did not occur.
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
tjw

Hi I'm a new MB owner of a 1974 240D automatic. Like all vehicle I buy I change the filters as soon as possible after purchase. I believe the oil filter canister would be behind the injecter pump on the driver side of the motor, but alas no oil canister. The previous owner told me that he had put in a newer used motor after the first one blew. It runs like a top and doesn't have any problems but can anyone tell me where the filter is located. ! Thank you for your advice and help. Troubled MB owner.
Hi,I recently put in a new transmission modulator valve, the transmission is shifting too soon, should I adjust the modulator valve clockwise or counter clockwise? To get it to shift at higher RPM's? Thanks,
I have a '79 240D with the 123 chassie. Last night the hazard button located on the center console started "buzzing". If pressed part way down, the buzzing stopped. When you let off the pressure the buzzing resumes. Is this a warning feature on this car? I'm concerned that something else may be wrong.
1996 e320 A/C blows cold on thepassenger side of vehicel but on the drivers side it blows hot air. Could it be that me temp control module in the car is bad?
My rear lower control arm is rusted about on third of the way around the area where the shock fastens on. I'm considering welding on some sort of plate or bracing and then just using some por15 to keep the rust from spreading. Just wondering if this is a bad idea or if anyone has had a similar problem?
Another water related question, sort of. While working on tracking down the water leak mentioned in my previous post, I (again) noticed that my wiper blades are uneven be a couple of inches. Is it possible to adjust them to make them more even or is this simply a matter of an aging car? If so, where can I find instructions to make the adjustment?
thx.
Also - any tips on which maintenance manual/user manual (besides the manuals for sale here, which I will certainly purchase as they seem to get rave reviews) is the best general manual to purchase for working on my new 85 300td??
