This is a very common failure item on the OM617 turbo diesel engines. There are two reasons why it bends or strips. 1) The original threaded adjusting rod is made of a VERY soft metal. 2) Owners or mechanics do not loosen the three large mounting bolts BEFORE adjusting the tension on the V-belts. Kent designed this improvement and now makes it in our own shop with a much stronger threaded rod.

We weld the threaded rod right to the top of the long bolt so it will not pull out like the original.
Mount plates and adjusting nuts are available ( purchase separately see below. In the following picture, you can see how it all comes together.
Here is a comparison of our bolt (upper) and the genuine. Genuine bolts are hard to find and can be very expensive ( approximately $70). Even if you purchase a new OEM, you may have problems down the road. We include a new adjusting nut and a new standard nut and wave washer with big through bolt.
