Don't be afraid to own one of these splendid airmatic models and don't be afraid to take on some of the repairs yourself. This system is no where near as complicated as the air suspension on my 300SEL 6.3 and way easier and cheaper to repair.
This becomes something you should inspect on cars with over 80,000 if they have been driven on rough roads, and over 100,000 on airmatic cars that have mostly freeway mileage.
In this xx-minute instructional video, Kent will explain and demonstrate how to change and deal with the end fittings on the high pressure lines used on the Mercedes airmatic suspension from 2000 to 2013. Examples shown are filmed on a W220 S500.
On 2000 to 2013 S Class sedans with airmatic suspension, getting to the top fitting on the rear strut under the panel below the rear glass can be a real pain. It is so tight in there you can hardly see what you are doing.
In this short 3-minute video, Kent will show you a trick that few know about. You can get those tapered shaft ball joints ( like to find on tie rods and control rods) loose without damaging the rubber boot. It can be faster and less painful than using traditional methods.
This kit includes four end fittings that attach the lines to the struts and the valve block, 1 meter of 4mm high-pressure line, and two splice connectors if you have to replace a broken or cracked plastic high-pressure line. These are "push-on to lock" in place. Very easy to install.
I decided to make this tester due to the number of reports of people wasting money and time trying to find the leak in their airmatic suspension. in some cases shops would just throw parts at it and the customer had to take it in two or three times before getting it permanently fixed.
If you have a VERY slow leak in your Airmatic Mercedes, trying to find it can be very frustrating. It could be in the valve block, one of the lines, or the Airmatic strut itself. Small leaks in the strut can be the hardest to find if you cannot hear it.
You will need to loosen the bottom of the rear shock, disconnect the control arm from the outer knuckle, loosen the inside arm bolts, and drop the end of the control arm down. Kent designed this tool to make it easy for the DIY mechanic to do this job without having to take it into the shop.
I call this the hidden and forgotten bushing. Why? Because you can not see it to inspect it, it hardly ever gets changed. When these bushings wear out you will feel "weird" movement in your rear end, especially going over rough ground.

In this 6-minute instructional video Kent will show you how fully bleed the air out of the power steering system on V6 and V8 engines from 1998 to 2012. This will get rid of that annoying squeal when you turn the wheel. This happens after doing a flush or replacing a power steering pump.
This magnetic inline filter can give additional life to the power steering fluid on the M112 and M113 engines ( V6 and V8 from 1998 to 2006). The filter has 3/8 inch nipples and can accept a 3/8 inch hose ( size normally found in the return hoses on M112 and M113 engines.

In this video, I will go over the procedure of removing and replacing the level control valve in your older Mercedes with Airmatic suspension. The work here will be performed on a 2000 W220 S500. Other models may have the valve located in a different position with slightly different mounting.
I do not need to say much about this tool. Well made and well thought out. Someone who obviously was frustrated at scratching the finish on his or her alloy wheels came up with this idea. Watch the video below to see why this is now my favorite go it 17 mm lug bolt socket.
Kent will show you how he found one very small leak in the front and a inconsistant leak in the rear of the airmatic suspension on a W220 S500. Neither of these leaks were showing up on any diagnostic scan so they were not the direct fault of major component failure.
